Canada’s Great Highway

by J.E.H. Secretan

Long have I roamed these dreary plains,
I've used up horses, men and brains;
And oft from virtue’s path I've strayed
To find a fifty-two foot grade.
But now, thank God, I'll take a rest,
Content, I've done my level best.
