©? This construction train arrived at Strathcona (Edmonton) in 1891. Multi-level boarding cars enjoyed a limited use on CPR construction. Such pieces of rolling stock exceeded height clearances and could not be moved over most through truss bridges. The lower storeys of these cars were used for cooking and eating (note cook in door of car at left); the upper levels were sleeping quarters, with a tiny window in each berth. The larger window at the right end of car 3 probably indicates position of a foreman’s room. ©?
